Dún Laoghaire Town in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, is delighted to announce Coastal Notes, a new music festival taking place throughout the town between Friday 22nd & Sunday 24th. of September.

Some of the towns most iconic buildings and venues have signed up to host events over the course of the weekend, including; dlr Lexicon, the National Maritime Museum, The Purty Kitchen, Gilbert & Wright, The Methodist Church and The Lighthouse. Each venue will be home to a particular genre of music, and as the venues are only a mere 5 minute walk from each other you’ll be sure to find something you’ll love.

On Friday 22nd Coastal Notes has teamed up with Culture Night 2017, and have been included in their events calendar, but the best part of this is that all the gig’s taking place on the Friday will be completely free of charge!

Friday 22nd September – Culture Night

The Purty Kitchen


The Hounds is a three piece playing blues, rock and funk. The material is self-penned and the vibe is loud, lively and left-field.

Gilbert & Wright

The Band, Whole Lotta Voltage,  deliver the most complete and authentic reproduction of AC/DC’s sound and stage performance in Ireland. The band are firmly established as one of the worlds finest tributes to AC/DC,  having been endorsed by Angus Young himself ahead of AC/DC’s visit to Dublin in 2014. The bands live AC/DC show has gained notoriety all over the country with its attention to detail, whirlwind energy and stunning musical accuracy.

dlr Lexicon

 

Fíona and Tim live at dlr lexicon 23rd september 2017 coastal notesare multi-instrumentalists who hail from Shankill in County Dublin, whose musical partnership began almost two decades ago. They have played countless gigs, competitions and performances over the years together, both nationally and internationally, developing and meshing their own unique styles with one another’s. They have recently released their debut album ‘Scáthanna’, a wonderful album of traditional Irish music on fiddle and concertina, with tracks featuring the uilleann pipes and tin whistle.

National Maritime Museum

Pat Coldrick is an Irish Classical Guitarist and Composer, who has been working for the last six years in Ireland but has also performed Recitals in Europe, the USA and Russia.

Pat has been described as ‘pushing the boundaries of classical guitar’ with his musical interpretations and compositions and has made Classical Guitar exciting, interesting and more accessible to music lovers in general. Through his interpretation of music and by exploring and embracing new technologies he strives to enhance the dynamics of the classical guitar and bring his music to a wider audience both at home and abroad.

The Methodist Church

Voices of Erin comprises of two of Ireland’s foremost sopranos Catrina Scullion and Emer Barry. With a wide repertoire spanning opera, celtic and crossover music, there is something to suit every style of event.

The Purty Kitchen

David Kitt is an Irish musician/producer that crosses multiple genres. He has released six studio albums to date, from his quietly magnetic 2001 debut Small Moments, through the expansive ambient textures and looping pop mantras of The Big Romance, through Square One, covers album The Black & Red Notebook, Not Fade Away & his most recent release, The Nightsaver (2009).

The Lighthouse

Arlandria are Ireland’s definitive, premier Foo Fighters Tribute Act, delivering an authentic reproduction of the Foo Fighters’ sound and stage performance.
Their live show is quickly gaining attention with its stunning energy and attention to detail. Each member is a passionate fan and a phenomenal musical talent, each perfectly emulating the musical presence of their ‘Foo Fighter’ alter ego. The shows are explosive and bring out the best in every crowd.

Sunday 24th September

National Maritime Museum

The Cafe Vaudeville  Band Play a variety of Jazz, Blues, Boogie, Vaudeville and Ragtime from  1900 onwards they play numerous instruments and have a unique sound. As the Band only got together in March 2012 things have really taken off for them, they Have performed in Festivals , Cafe Theatres , Barbeques, private partys, Fetes, farmers markets as well as selected bar venues , Their gigs have been described as ‘like walking into a wonderful old jazz club in New Orleans’ They are really enjoying the journey of finding the best songs from 1900 to 1940 and putting their own twist on them, they also write and preform their own quirky original songs.

The Purty Kitchen 

A veteran of the Irish music scene, Colm Lynch, hailing from the Dun Laoghaire borough has been entertaining crowds and playing out of his skin for close to 20 years now. He has released a number of solo works to date which was well received by radio and is currently working with his full live band Watson Ace who released their debut album ‘Backbone’ in 2016. His finest work to date.

With one of the most powerful voices, Dun Laoghaire has to offer, young up and comer Aaron Rowe is destined for brighter things to come. The 20-year-old singer and songwriter who burst onto the scene sometime around 2016 with a number of sporadic performances at festivals and events around Ireland and the UK to great appraisal is currently in the shadows perfecting his style and constantly working on new material.
